Greetings and welcome to Designs By Nature South. We are a Christian based Michigan Native Plant nursery growing Michigan genotype wildflowers and grasses. We opened our doors in 2020 and have partnered with 30 year nurseryman, Vern Stephens - owner of Designs By Nature.
Since opening our doors, we have partnered with many local Conservation Districts, Friends organizations and the USFWS, in an effort to educate and promote the use of native plants in restoration and gardening efforts. As an added benefit, our plant sales have helped raise thousands of dollars for our partners, allowing them to continue their efforts within the community.
Our nursery is always growing! Each year we strive to bring new and exciting species into our inventory. Currently we are going close to 100 Michigan native grasses and wildflowers, enough to satisfy all your planting needs. However, if we don't grow that special plant you are looking for, our partnership with Vern and several other Designs By Nature nurseries across the state, we can help source that special plant for you.
Designs by Nature South is open to the public by appointment only. Located 5 minutes north of Flint, we are just a couple miles off the Interstate 75, exit 131.
